PHIVE Presents: Dharug Culture and Lifestyle with Uncle Chris

Aboriginal Educator,  Chris Tobin,  will be providing a presentation on local Dharug culture sharing stories and insights into “the way humans normally live”. Learn more about the sustainable lifestyle of traditional Aboriginal societies -described by the first settlers as “relaxed and leisurely”, along with plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion.

Important Information:

  • This is a one-hour free activity, registrations are required.
  • This activity is open to children 7 years up, adults, students, seniors. Younger children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the duration of the activity.
  • Due to unavailability our Aboriginal presenters can change at any given date.

About Uncle Chris

Uncle Chris Tobin is a respected Dharug Artist and Educator who has worked as an Aboriginal guide and presenter with NPWS - the National Parks and Wildlife Service, for the past 20 years. He visits regularly with schools and other education institutions throughout Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains sharing about his peoples’ stories and way of life.

Uncle Chris currently serves on the Elders Advisory Committee for Western Sydney University as well as several other boards and committees assisting with consultation and cultural ceremonies when required. He is also a practicing artist whose work is sought after and often seen ochred on the trees around Parramatta Park

PHIVE sits on the lands and waters of the Burramattagal of the Dharug nation and we acknowledge Burramatta as a significant place of ceremony, story and tradition. We pay our respects to Dharug Ancestors and Elders, past, present and future and extend our respect to all First Nations people joining this program and visiting PHIVE.
