Staff and volunteers are continuing to follow the advice provided by NSW Health in relation to hygiene measures, mandatory use of masks and social distancing.

City of Parramatta Food Services believe that good nutrition and good company is the key to keeping our minds and bodies healthy and so the team deliver several options:

  • traditional Meals on Wheels service (home delivered meals)
  • innovative Let’s Dine Out restaurant option
  • Social Lunch Program to help those with Dementia.

The team have engaged local restaurant partners, fully trained volunteers and quality food suppliers to ensure you receive the very best.

Our home delivered meals are prepared to meet nutritional guidelines and our restaurant partners have to meet accessibility and health standards. We currently deliver across the Local Government Area (LGA) to those who are unable to shop for or prepare their own meals.  Day to day operations are carried out by our staff and home delivered meals are serviced by trained volunteers who are committed to our local community.

To access these services you need to be receiving either NDIS or have been assessed by My Aged Care.

Should you have any further questions or wish to check if you are within our delivery area please feel free to contact us on (02) 9806 5005.

Meals on Wheels

Our Meals on Wheels service delivers meals to customers in their homes and is available to:

  • frail older residents
  • people with disabilities and their carers
  • people recovering from surgery or a chronic illness.

As we age our appetite can drop away and research shows that one of the main reasons for older people being moved into residential facilitated care is malnutrition. Each mouthful needs to count.

Our meal packs are nutritionally balanced to offer the correct proportions of protein, calcium and fats to keep ageing bodies healthy. NSW Health state the importance of eating three meals a day and maintaining your fluid intake.

Meals can be personalised to suit most dietary requirements and are culturally diverse.  Customers receive delivered pre-packaged frozen meals that include a;

  • main meal
  • dessert
  • juice

Soups are available upon request for an additional fee.

Deliveries are Tuesday to Friday between the hours of 8:30am to 11:30am each morning.

Please note: All food supplied under Meals on Wheels or the Social Lunch Program was purchased pre-packaged by City of Parramatta Council from a third party supplier.

Customers receiving individual funding are required pay the fees listed below:

Fees

Meal pack cost from $7.90

Main meal cost from $6.00

Home Care meal preparation and delivery - $8.85

All costs are reviewed annually in the schedule of fees and charges (Section 6.2, pages 14–15).

Invoices for food services are posted on a monthly basis and can be paid for via direct debit, money order, BPAY or bank cheque.

Dementia can strike anyone. Those caring for a loved one with dementia are often frightened that the loved one is not eating enough, if at all. This is also a concern shared by family where one parent has passed away leaving the other to fend for themselves for the first time in years.

Research shows that one of the main reasons for older people being moved into residential facilitated care is malnutrition. Each mouthful needs to count.
