Create drawings and watercolour artworks in response to the interesting and unique architecture and design of the PHIVE building with artist Cameron Stead. In this workshop, you will be led through a series of fundamental and experimental approaches to drawing in and outside the building, before returning to the workshop space to develop sustained works with watercolour paint.
In this workshop, you will learn the basics of watercolour painting in a fun and supportive environment, and be encouraged to take risks and develop new processes in your artmaking practice.
This workshop is suitable for everyone aged 13- 17 years and all experience levels, whether this is your first foray into art-making or you’re an old hat. All materials will be provided, however, you’re more than welcome to bring your own paper, pencils or watercolour paint if you’d like to.

About Cameron
Cameron Stead is an interdisciplinary artist based on Gadigal Country. Stead’s practice spans painting, performance, installation and fibre art, and uses colour and materiality in a broad range of processes to investigate ideas of the self in public and private spaces, as well as dualities of the lived experience. Stead is the 2017 winner of the Kilgour Prize and a 2020-21 Waverly Studios Artist in Residence.
