City of Parramatta hosts a series of Family Fun Day events and activities throughout the year in our neighbourhoods to connect with residents and provide Council information and community services, localised activities.
Family Fun Day events give Council an opportunity to celebrate the completion of local upgrades with our community.

Free Outdoor Cinema Series
Friday 12 – Friday 26 April | 4pm-9pm
This April school holidays, City of Parramatta will be delivering five free fun-filled family events throughout the community! Bring a picnic blanket, bring your family and friends and head down to a site near you and enjoy live music, kids workshops, roving entertainment and garden games, followed by an outdoor movie screening. Each event is free with food options available. Events will take place in the following locations, with movies starting from around 6pm.

On Saturday 25 March 2023 we celebrated upgrades at the Sturt and Acacia Parks.
Council hosted a movie night at Sturt Park, with a special screening of Minions: Rise of Guru (2022 – PG rated).
This $5 million upgrade was funded by the NSW Government under the Precinct Support Scheme and included improvements to the playground equipment and skate bowl. It will also has a nature play area, multi-use court, seating, sheltered picnic areas, barbeques, and toilet facilities.

On Saturday 17 April we celebrated the upgrades at John Wearn Reserve.
Council hosted a movie night at John Wearn Reserve, with a special screening of The Lion King (2019).
The $5.2 million upgrades at John Wearn Reserve include a new:
- safari-themed playground;
- toilet amenities;
- car park;
- barbecue facilities and picnic shelters;
- skate park;
- dog park; and
- a stage with ampitheatre seating

On Friday 16 April we celebrated the upgrades at Dundas Park.
Council is hosted a movie night at Dundas Park, with a special screening of Pokemon Detective Pikachu.
The upgrades at Dundas Park include the new $2.1 million Alan Hayes Pavilion with new toilets, change rooms, and a meeting room available for hire. New solar lighting around the footpath circuit and two new street libraries were also installed in 2020.
In addition to these upgrades, landscaping works will take place in April 2021 to beautify the Yates Avenue frontage of Dundas Park.

On Thursday 15 April we celebrated the upgrades to Gallery Gardens in Old Toongabbie.
Council hosted a movie night at Gallery Gardens, with a special screening of Dolittle (2020).
The $830,000 upgrades at Gallery Gardens include:
- resurfaced tennis courts and upgraded tennis amenity buildings;
- new playground, fitness station and seating; and
- enhanced bush regeneration area and signage.

On Sunday 23 February 2020, we celebrated the completion of the upgrades to Carmen Drive Reserve in Carlingford.
Activities
The Fun Day had a range of family-friendly activities, including:
- kids’ activities
- bubble show
- a visit from NSW RFS North Rocks Brigade firefighters
- live music by local artists
- community barbecue
Upgrades
The $1.1 million upgrades included:
- renovated shop frontage
- new carpark for the Carmen Drive shops
- amenities block
- fenced playground

We celebrated the completion of the Constitution Hill Shopping Village from 26 to 31 October 2020 with a range of online and in-person workshops, competitions, and giveaways.
Activities
The Fun Day had family-friendly activities, including:
- free children’s workshops
- online story time with City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Bob Dwyer
- Halloween-themed competitions, activities, and giveaways at Constitution Hill Library
- special offers from the businesses at Constitution Hill Shopping Village

On Saturday 21 September 2019, we celebrated the completion of Stage 1 of the Eastern River Foreshore separated bike and pedestrian path at Eric Primrose Reserve in Rydalmere.
Activities
The Fun Day had a range of family-friendly activities, including:
- free bike hire
- face painting
- balloon artistry
- community barbecue
Upgrades
Funded by a $1.25 million NSW Government’s Stronger Communities Fund grant, Stage 1 connects the Rydalmere ferry wharf with Eric Primrose Reserve and includes a new amenities block.

On Sunday 19 May 2019, we celebrated upgrades to the facilities at George Kendall Riverside Park in Ermington.
It included the official naming of the sports pavilion in honour of former Council Alderman, the late Greg McKay.
Activities
The Fun Day had a range of family-friendly activities, including:
- face painting
- balloon artistry
- sporting games
- local stalls
- live music
- community barbecue
Upgrades
The 27.2-hectare park upgrades included refurbished tennis courts, new multipurpose courts, and a state-of-the-art playground.
The playground features shade sail covers, a suspension platform, balance beam, slide, climbing equipment and swings. It was funded by the NSW Government’s $300,000 Stronger Communities Fund.

On Sunday 5 June we celebrated the renovations to Epping’s Boronia Grove Community Centre.
Council hosted a Family Fun Day at Boronia Grove Community Centre and neighbouring Boronia Park featuring live music, arts and crafts workshops and so much more!
Thank you to the Epping community for joining us on this special day.The $1.95 million upgrades to the Boronia Grove Community Centre provide the Epping community access to five meeting rooms, two office spaces, a café space and an art space.
