Parking in Parramatta

There are currently more than 3,880 on-street and off-street (multi-level parking stations) parking spaces in the Parramatta Local Government Area. Around 260 new spaces will be added this year. 

City of Parramatta provides free 5 and 15 minutes parking zones in the CBD to help visitors with parking near essential services and to make ‘click and collect’ shopping easier. There is also 20 minutes free parking in the Parramatta Station Car Park on Monday to Saturday, and four hours free parking on Sundays. Up to four hours free parking is also available at Justice Precinct Carpark on Sundays.

24-hour multi-level parking stations

Council offers 24-hour multi-level car parks with affordable rates, starting from $3 per hour.

Find Eat Street; Parramatta Quare, Parramatta Station or Justice Precinct car parks using the map below, or enter the name of the multi-level car park directly into Parking Finder.

While paid parking in the city centre and North Parramatta encourages turn-over of parking spaces within a shorter period of time so that more visitors can find parking within easy walking distance of local businesses, there is also 10 hour and ‘all-day’ parking, along with parking available for residents, commuters, and local businesses. Note: ‘all-day’ parking is usually only available on one side of the street.

Council has a number of multi-level car parks. To find the location of Eat Street; Parramatta Station; or Justice Precinct Car Park; just enter the name of the car park into Parking Finder.

More parking around the city

There is limited parking available for the general public at the Novotel; the Meriton Suites; and in other private parking stations. Some of these parking stations offer flat all-day rates eg. $12 for six hours, or $20 all day parking.

CommBank Stadium also offers casual paid parking in the stadium’s western and northern car parks at $3/per hour or $10/per day. 

Please note there is no on-site parking available at CommBank Stadium on event days, be sure to check the event calendar.

  • In September 2021, Council consulted the community on the Parramatta CBD Parking Strategy which included short, medium and long term options to support the provision of parking in the Parramatta CBD as well as a number of innovative solutions to improve parking. A final report was endorsed by Council in April 2022 and implementation of recommendations has now commenced.

  • Council has installed three (3) new Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations covering 6 parking spots at Parramatta Station Car Park (Wentworth Street). The new stations are located on the ground floor within designated EV car spaces. Drivers will be able to charge their car using dedicated 22kW, Type 2 chargers. The chargers are universal and can be used to charge most cars including Teslas. 
    Charging at Council’s EV stations is included in the parking fees.

    Council has also installed an EV charger at the Rydalmere Operation Centre available for fleet and visitors to use.

    Through the Australian Government, ARENA funding will provide additional EV fast chargers within the local government area in 2022. 

    The location of EV charging points within the City of Parramatta will able to be searched using Parking Finder.

  • If you are in search of Accessible Parking within Parramatta CBD, Parking Finder can help. Be sure to uncheck all other parking types and tick accessible parking.

    If you are a driver with a disability and have a Mobility Parking Scheme (MPS) card displayed on the windscreen of your vehicle, you are entitled to the following parking concessions:

    • in a metered, coupon or ticket parking area - no charge
    • where parking is limited by a sign to less than 30 minutes - park for a maximum of 30 minutes
    • where parking is limited by a sign to 30 minutes - park for two hours
    • where parking is limited by a sign to more than 30 minutes - park for an unlimited time.

    Note: Parking concession is not available to Mobility Parking Scheme pass holders in Council’s multi-level car parks.

  • Motorcycles have designated free locations around the city, these locations include:

    • Erby Place (off Horwood place alongside Eat Street car park)
    • Fire Horse Lane (outside Parramatta Station car park)
    • Hunter Street (under cover near Justice Precinct car park entry ramp)

  • There are approximately 1,655 on-street parking spaces across Parramatta. The City of Parramatta no longer accepts cash and has made paying for parking easier with the following payment options: VISA, Mastercard, AMEX and EasyPark mobile phone app.

    Payments can be made via EasyPark mobile phone app with no minimum spend. The mobile phone app provides you with ticket-free parking where you no longer need to pay and display your ticket, which makes paying for parking quick and effortless, service fees apply. (Download the EasyPark app and register.

  • Do not leave your vehicle unattended without purchasing an EasyPark* session or paying for a ticket from the parking meter.

    City of Parramatta's Community Safety Officers patrol the Parramatta Local Government Area to ensure vehicles are parked safely and legally. Infringement notices/parking fines may be issued for parking offences.

    Councils do not set or amend parking fine penalties. Parking fines are set by legislation administered by Transport for NSW and NSW Treasury.

    Council officers cannot withdraw a notice once the infringement notice has been started or has been issued. If you have been issued with a fine, there is an appeals procedure which can be made either to the City of Parramatta or Revenue NSW.

    Note: Parking concession rates are not available for metered parking as per the Roads and Maritime Service (RMS) manual.
