Integrated Grants & Projects Better Neighbourhood Program

The Better Neighbourhood Program (BNP) is a long-running and successful Council program that focuses on the capital upgrades of local centres outside of the Parramatta CBD. The BNP commenced in 1999 and delivers improvements to centres with the goal of enhancing safety, vitality and economic prosperity.

Council are investing in BNP projects, which consist primarily of:

1. Capital streetscape to Council-owned assets in local centres such as footpaths and street furniture
2. Connecting Centres projects to improve access to local centres and neighbourhoods; and
3. Complementary improvements to landscaping and nearby open space.
4. Deep cleansing and maintenance works to beautify the local centre

The program runs bi-annually and Council have committed $3.2M over the 24/25 and 25/26 financial years.

Local centres are determined for upgrade based on a number of factors, including the condition of the centre, its vibrancy, its connectivity, community feedback, an audit (Centres Review) of the local shops’ cleanliness and facilities, contributed to the final funding decision. • Collette Village, North Parramatta (beautification)
• Ermington Shops, Ermington (beautification)
• Good Street, Granville (beautification)
• Epping Town Centre (west), Epping (beautification)
• Yates Avenue Shops, Dundas (beautification)
• Bungaree Road Shops, Toongabbie (beautification)
• Picasso Crescent Shops, Old Toongabbie (beautification)
