Our Local heritage fund provides small grants to owners of heritage items and properties located in conservation areas. Conservation and maintenance work that will improve the heritage values and maintain its significance would be assessed and presented to the heritage advisory committee for approval. Suitable scopes related to maintenance works or like for like reinstatement of missing original features, front fences, verandas, roofing and decorative details, etc.
Submit a Local Heritage Fund Application online
- Prepare Documents (this includes full Owners Consent)
- Visit Council's Online Services
- Select "Lodge an Application"
- Select "Development" then "Local Heritage Fund Application"
- Find your property, and
- Fill in the form and attach mandatory documents
Grant approval
Grant application approval is subject to availability of funding and the eligibility and priority of applications. Council has recently increased assistance to heritage property owners by increasing the annual budget for the fund from $30,000 to $50,000.
Fund limits are to 25% of the value of the work, up to a maximum of $5,000.
Discretionary payments up to $10,000, at a ratio of 50% may be made where work is necessary to prevent serious or irreparable damage or deterioration to a heritage property.
Applications are processed and reported in three meetings a year with the Heritage Advisory Committee.
NSW Heritage grants
You may be eligible for funding from Heritage NSW and the Heritage Council of NSW for conservation work to properties listed on the State Heritage Register.
