Time to get out and play at Wentworth Point’s new playground

Wentworth Point’s new $700,000 revamped pop-up town square, which includes a temporary playground and social space will be officially unveiled this weekend, providing a safe place to stay fit and active for residents while they enjoy the outdoors with friends and family.

The celebration on Saturday, 14 December, comes in time for the Summer school holidays and coincides with the annual Wentworth Point Christmas Concert in the pop-up Town Square.

The temporary playground and social space and pop-up town square features a new full-size basketball court, social space, two mini-sporting fields that can combine into one larger field, a kid’s play tower, and slide and swings.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said every community deserves green spaces.

“What a great Christmas present for the Wentworth Point residents – a new playground and social space officially open to enjoy,” Cr Zaiter said.

“We have opened numerous parks throughout the year at places such as Westmead, Carlingford and Granville and now its Wentworth Point’s turn.

“These residents have waited long enough to have their own space to play and catch up and I am so proud that Council has contributed $200,000 to help get this project done.”

Billbergia Development Director Mr Rick Graf said the collaboration with City of Parramatta on the new playground and social space was a great outcome for the community.

“The original idea for creating the pop-up town square was a Covid recovery initiative back in 2021 to provide more outdoor space for people and families to connect,” Mr Graf said.

“The success of the space and the huge community interest in sports activities has seen the space revamped and expanded to around 3,000 sqm, with room for sports, playground, and an indoor community hub.

“The expanded space and equipment delivered with the support of the Council demonstrate what can be achieved when the public and private sectors work together”.

Wentworth Point’s new temporary playground and social space is situated at the ‘Town Square’ at Wentworth Place and Footbridge Boulevard and is jointly funded by City of Parramatta‘s Better Neighbourhoods Program and developer Billbergia.
