Local small businesses looking to sharpen their budgeting, marketing and grant writing skills will have access to more than 13 free workshops over the next six months through the City of Parramatta’s Small Business Program.

Workshops will provide access to industry experts and cover areas like building financial literacy, empowering women in business, networking, support for writing grants and learning about digital tools to accelerate your business.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Pierre Esber said small businesses are the beating heart of our City's economy.

“This is a great opportunity to take your business to new heights by learning new skills,” Cr Esber said.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our community, and we want to make sure business owners have the right tools and resources to thrive.

“From growing an online audience to networking and a cybersecurity webinar, these workshops are designed to support small businesses with navigating the ebbs and flows of running their own business.

Australian School of Employment will run a face-to-face Ideation 101 course as part of the Small Business Program for those looking to start their own career and build their own community.

Australian School of Employment CEO, Taj Pabari said they are excited to help support local businesses.

"We believe in the power of community -our face-to-face course is designed to support small business owners and entrepreneurs,” Mr Pabari said.

“Partnering with the City of Parramatta allows us to extend our impact and foster local economic growth. Our goal has always been to operate from the communities we want to serve, so we're now officially calling North Parramatta home.”

Western Sydney Business Centre Business Connect Advisor and Operations Manager Nathan Todd said they were excited to partner with Council to deliver essential advice to local businesses.

“This is a big opportunity to provide advice to small businesses and showcase what our local area has to offer,” Mr Todd said.

“The webinars we have chosen target the main issues that we are currently seeing small businesses face. They will deep dive into these common business problems and provide useful insights and a road map to a successful business."
