City of Parramatta will invest more than $560 million in projects and services over the next 12 months to deliver on community needs and continue Parramatta’s transformation into a global City.
The City’s draft Community Strategic Plan (CSP), Delivery Program and Operational Plan (DPOP) and budget were endorsed for public exhibition at the May Council Meeting this week laying the foundation for Parramatta’s future.
The plans outline a comprehensive local and global vision for the whole City over the next 25 years, and Council’s key commitments and funding over the next four years to deliver these goals.
The draft 2025/26 budget includes a $199.8 million investment in capital works projects such as Parramatta’s grand pedestrian boulevard - Civic Link (Block 3), refreshing the Epping and Granville Town Centres, local park and reserve upgrades across the City and improved cycleway connections to the CBD.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said Parramatta is rapidly transforming into a global City and continued investment in infrastructure was critical to support its growing community for the long term.
“We’ve listened to our community at workshops, forums and pop-ups to help shape our plans and identify priorities for the future of our City,” Cr Zaiter said.
“We know our community values investment in projects such as community hubs, the revitalisation of Epping and Granville Town Centres and improving cycling connections along the Parramatta River.
“This budget includes 42 per cent of external funding from grants or contributions for capital works to help Council deliver on projects that make our City not just a great place to work or live in but to also invest in.”
Cr Zaiter said while cost of living impacts has had a huge impact on hip pockets, there is relief for pensioners who can apply for a rate rebate.
“Council continues to provide eligible pensioners an extra $100 rate rebate, which is in addition to the $250 mandatory rebate all NSW councils provide,” Cr Zaiter said.
“We are focused on delivering our community needs and will continue to pursue funding opportunities to deliver City shaping infrastructure and drive our global transformation.”
The 6.2% rates increases by the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) has been applied to business and residential ratepayers and coupled with careful financial management to ensure Council can deliver on all its programs and services.
The draft Community Strategic Plan, Delivery Program and Operational Plan are open for feedback until 9am on 11 June 2025. Visit Participate Parramatta for more information.
