Council is inviting submissions on the detailed draft landscape plan for Granville Town Square.
This project will see the transformation of approximately 3,500m2 just north of Granville Railway Station into a large village green and civic space.
Located between Cowper Street in the north, Rowell Street to the east and Bridge Street to the south, the plans include a village green, plaza, community stage, seating, public amenities and pedestrian access between homes, rail and local businesses.
The draft landscape plan includes:
- A village green (with durable turf) for informal kick-about play
- A layered canopy of native trees and endemic plant species
- Pedestrian access and multiple entry points
- Paved civic space with outdoor seating for social gathering and recreation
- Proposed Council owned leasable kiosk
- Public amenities building
- Informal stage platform for potential events and performances
- Event and maintenance storage spaces
- BBQ and picnic facilities for large group gatherings
- Unique furniture creating a sense of place
- Inclusion of CCTV and lighting for improved safety
- Improved wayfinding and signage
- Vehicular access to rear of Good Street properties is retained
This $13 million project is proudly funded by the NSW Government's Accelerated Infrastructure Fund and the City of Parramatta Council.
