At the request of Parramatta West Public School P&C, the following proposal has been reviewed and approved through the Parramatta Traffic Committee (PTC) which includes representatives from the Police, Transport for NSW (TfNSW), Public Transport providers and City of Parramatta’s Traffic & Transport Services Unit.
- That a 20m long double barrier (BB) centre line be installed in Railway Street east of Franklin Street, Parramatta as shown in the attached sketch.
- That the existing double barrier (BB) centre line located on the westbound approach of the pedestrian crossing in Railway Street, Parramatta outside Parramatta West Public School be extended east up to Franklin Street, Parramatta as shown in the attached sketch.
- That the existing double barrier (BB) centre line located on the eastbound approach of the pedestrian crossing in Railway Street, Parramatta outside Parramatta West Public School be extended west up to the western boundary of the school as shown in the attached sketch.
Purpose:
The linemarking will support safe road safety behaviour. Motorists have been observed performing unsafe U-turn movements in Railway Street, affecting traffic flow during busy drop-off and pick-up times.
It is anticipated that linemarking will be installed prior to school resuming Term 1, 2024.
Remember, road rules are in place to protect all road users including pedestrians, and all motorists are expected to always follow the road rules.
