Referendum - Booking a venue
Council is inviting applications from community groups to have venue hire fees waived or subsidised for activities being delivered in Council venues relating to the Referendum for Constitutional Recognition and First Nations Voice to Parliament (Referendum).
In expressing its support for proposed Constitutional change and the key principles of the ‘Uluru Statement from the Heart’, Council seeks to promote open, respectful and constructive dialogue during discussion of the referendum vote that upholds cultural safety and acknowledges the diversity of views within the City of Parramatta community.
Only activities that are for purposes consistent with open, respectful and constructive dialogue on the Referendum will be considered for waiving of venue hire fees.
In order to assist Council in its assessment of applications and determination if a fee waiver or subsidy is applied, we ask you to provide any information you can about the activity being proposed. This can include an advertising flyer, event program and/or confirmation of any speakers.
Please note that the normal venue booking process applies (with the inclusion of the above required information) and will also be subject to Council’s Community Facilities Hire Terms and Conditions.
A budget of $10,000 in total has been applied to this opportunity which means that venue hire fee waiver requests will not be considered once this allocation has been exhausted. As part of the booking confirmation process you will be updated on what waiver or subsidy can be applied to your event. However, applications for use of Council venues for purposes consistent with the Council resolution are still encouraged but will be subject to normal venue hire fee requirements.
As per Council’s Terms and Conditions of hire, the hirer must ensure there is no discrimination, vilification or incitement of hatred or violence against any person or persons during hire of Council facilities. A breach of this condition will result in the termination of current and future hire privileges.
