Laasya is an exploration of feminine dance energy through the medium of Kathak (a north Indian classical storytelling dance form).
It showcases Kathak through contemporary expressions derived from its traditional vocabulary. Kathak as a dance form is both circular and fluid as well as high velocity and sharp, signifying the movement of the Earth, the Sun, and the Moon.
Ruchi Sanghi Dance Company is a premier Kathak dance company established in 2000. Their sold-out productions include Anarkali The Musical, Laasya 1, Devdas The Musical, The Nautch Girls as well as several prestigious performances such as Confluence at the Opera House, World Yoga Day at the Opera House, opening exhibitions at the Art Gallery of NSW, performance for Indian PM Modi and many dance festivals such as Vivid and Parramasala.
All proceeds will go towards various charities in Australia and overseas supporting victims of domestic abuse and people with disabilities.
