About PAS Open
PAS Open is a short-term mentorship and creative development intensive conducted online over three to four weeks. It is a way of providing professional support for artists who may not be able to access or utilise physical studio space, and was originally conceived as a digital residency to support artists impacted by the global COVID-19 lockdowns – when access to income, opportunities and studio space was limited.
PAS Open is ideal for those artists seeking short-term project support, and whose practices often function outside of bricks-and-mortar studios – a “space” and time for dedicated research, conversation, mentorship, and creative development. Artists selected for PAS Open are awarded a fee to participate in a program of online meetings, presentations, symposiums, and talks presented by guest speakers invited from across the arts sector.
Parramatta Artists Studios acknowledges the limited accessibility of our studio sites, and has identified this program as an ideal platform for Disabled, Neurodivergent, chronically ill and d/Deaf artists, and works actively with various accessibility organisations and advocates to ensure the continued delivery and improvement of PAS Open.
The 2023 PAS Open Artists were Bonnie Huang, Anna May Kirk, Claudia Nicholson, and Daley Rangi; the 2023 PAS Open Mentors were Mariam Ella Arcilla and Diego Ramirez.
