PAS International: From Western Sydney to the World is Parramatta Artists Studios’ long-term commitment to international exchange, collaboration and connection. It provides a clear and flexible framework for how PAS supports artists to engage beyond local contexts, while strengthening the cultural life of Western Sydney.
Grounded in the realities of this place, PAS International understands that global engagement is not separate from local practice – it extends from it. Western Sydney’s artists already work across cultures, languages and geographies, and this framework builds on that lived condition of connection and exchange.
PAS International sets out how we develop partnerships, support artist-led opportunities, and create pathways for research, residencies, commissions and long-term collaboration across the Asia Pacific and beyond. It is designed to guide decision-making and ensure this work is delivered with consistency, care and accountability over time.
At its core, PAS International is about reciprocity: supporting artists to build meaningful relationships across borders, while welcoming international artists and cultural workers into Parramatta in ways that are locally grounded and sustained.
Rather than a one-off program, it is an ongoing approach to how PAS works – connecting artists to global conversations, while bringing new ideas, practices and perspectives into deeper relationship with Western Sydney.
