About

Movers and Makers is a free symposium of critical discussion and networking opportunities for artists aimed at cultivating industry accessibility and sustainability of artists’ careers. This annual program addressed a gap in the market in 2015 for artist-focused professional development conferences and has become PAS’ signature public program for the practicing artist community.

The Movers and Makers program is developed with PAS Artists. Three months prior to the event, we meet with PAS Artists to discuss topical interests, challenges and career development opportunities. From this meeting we curate a program of guest speakers including artists, curators and arts workers from NSW, Australia and beyond to speak to these issues.

Movers and Makers also includes the significant networking event titled ‘One Plus One’. Three curators/organisations, local, national and international, meet with artists one-on-one for 15-minutes, with the aim of increasing artists’ networks and potentially connecting artists with a future opportunity. Artists apply via an online application process.

Symbolically, we begin the day with an artist-designed breakfast event, starting the day of conversations over food and surrounded by art.
