Council is seeking community feedback on the future introduction of a Food and Garden Organics (FOGO) waste service.
The NSW government has set the target for all households in NSW to have a food waste collection service by 2030, and with Council’s waste contracts ending in 2024, now is the perfect time to start planning our future waste services so they deliver great outcomes for our environment and community.
What is proposed?
Council is proposing for food scraps to be separated in a bench-top container and placed in the green-lidded bin instead of the red-lidded bin.
The green-lidded bin containing the food scraps would then be collected weekly.
However, with the food waste removed from the red-lidded garbage bin, this bin could change from a weekly to a fortnightly collection or be reduced to a smaller size.
There would be no change to the yellow-lidded bin.
