PAS International is the first comprehensive articulation of our international work: a values-led framework that sets out how we support artists to build meaningful relationships across borders, and how we sustain those relationships over time

Parramatta Artists Studios is proud to launch PAS International: From Western Sydney to the World – a long-term commitment shaping how we approach international exchange, collaboration and connection.

Director of Parramatta Artists Studios, Sidney McMahon said: 

“PAS International is about creating the conditions for artists from Western Sydney to build meaningful relationships across borders, while bringing the world into deeper connection with this place. It’s a long-term commitment to artist-led exchange that is grounded here and connected to the Asia Pacific and beyond.” 

Grounded in the cultural life of Western Sydney, PAS International recognises that international engagement is not separate from place – it is an extension of it. It reflects the lived realities of our communities, where global connections, diasporic knowledge and cultural exchange are already part of everyday life. 

The framework provides a clear and flexible structure to guide how PAS develops partnerships, supports artists, and designs programs across the Asia Pacific and beyond – from residencies and commissions to long-term collaborations and shared cultural projects. 

At its core, PAS International prioritises reciprocal exchange: supporting Western Sydney artists to engage internationally, while welcoming artists, curators and cultural workers into Parramatta in ways that are locally grounded, artist-led and sustained over time.
