Parking meters are going cashless

From 1 April 2024, all on-street parking meters in the Parramatta CBD will become cashless.

Council has 224 parking meters throughout the CBD. On-street parking eases demand and reduces congestion as it is a great alternative for customers planning to park for a short period. Parking meter technology has evolved in recent years, with smart technology making it quick and easy to pay by card or through the Easy Park app.

The emerging trend of not carrying cash and the confidence to make purchases by card, Council has noticed that coin (cash) payments at meters have declined over time. Cashless parking meters will improve efficiency as well as reduce parking meter faults because of internal coin malfunctioning or incorrect use. Less parking meter faults will deliver a better experience for customers and reduced maintenance costs is a great outcome for ratepayers.

All parking meters will accept the following payment options - VISA, Mastercard, AMEX and the Easy Park App. Importantly, on-street parking rates will NOT change.
