  • The Parramatta Heritage Centre has all you need to know about the rich Indigenous colonial and multicultural heritage of our area.

    Visitors can explore a permanent exhibition called Parramatta: People & Place, which tells an inclusive story of the Burramatta Aboriginal people, early settlers, extended families and multicultural communities, and how Australia's second colonial settlement developed into its contemporary role as the vibrant demographic centre of the metropolitan region.

  • The Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) is Australia's largest research organisation dealing with ATSI peoples. It holds welfare records, institutional records, media reports, family records, language resources, a large photographic collection, reference material and other historical documents.

    Appointments and authority may be needed to gain access to certain records.

  • The NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) is an Aboriginal community controlled, independent, not-for-profit advocacy group.

    The AECG promotes respect, empowerment and self-determination and believes the process of collaborative consultation is integral to achieving equity in education and is fundamental to the achievement of equality.

    Contact the AECG if you have inquires about education or courses within pre-school, TAFE, primary and high school systems.

  • The State Library of NSW has an extensive catalogue of historical, social and cultural information on Aboriginal people within NSW and of Australia, including a specific Indigenous service.

    This service assists with Indigenous local or cultural history, family history and other information on ATSI peoples including an extensive list of online databases and websites in the subject area of 'Aboriginal Australian'.
